Thank you for visiting the Vermilyea (Vermilya, Vermilye, Vermilyea, Vermilyen, Vermilyer) Family Reunion Web Site. This site is maintained for the pleasure of the descendants of Johannes and Aeltje (Waldron) Vermelje. Johannes who was born in 1632 at Leyden, Holland, immigrated to America in 1662 on the ship “De Purmerland Kerch”, arriving at New Harlem and settling on Manhattan Island. On August 27, 1670 he married Aeltje Waldron, and from this couple the persons living today using the surname spellings of Vermilya, Vermilye, Vermilyea, Vermilyen and Vermilyer descend. It is probable that the surname spelling Vermillera should also be included in this list, however the connection has not yet been proven. An attempt is being made to document all known reunions held by these families to add to this site. Please check the links to the right to view information and pictures that are currently available. I welcome additional information and pictures. The first eight generations of “The Vermilyea Family (Vermilya, Vermilye, Vermilyea, Vermilyer), Descendants of Johannes Vermelje, New York 1662-1998″, compiled by Sandra Vermilyea Todd is now available at this site. The updated version is available as a PDF, follow the link at the right.

HELP!! MISSING FAMILY MEMBERS ………….INFORMATION NEEDED
As Historian for the Vermilyea Family, I am always searching for information on family members that for lack of parent’s names can’t be added to our family tree. I have been unable to make a positive identification on the Vermilya/e/ea/er/Vermillera families listed below. Most were born in the late 1700′s or early 1800′s. In a few cases I have a good idea who the parents are, but lack proof. I have many pages of research on all of these families; most have been in my files for several years. If you have any information, even a clue — please contact me with your findings.
Some of these persons show up on records with numerous surname spellings.
Your help would be appreciated.
Sandra

OF
JOHANNES VERMELJE
NEW YORK
1662-2012
by Sandra Vermilyea Todd
In 1998 I published the first Vermilyea genealogy book, since then several updates have been published. New information continues to be added, however many persons are still unaccounted for. I would appreciate any additional information to add to this genealogy. No one recorded in the first seven generations is still living, but in a couple cases descendants were listed that are, these names and their information has been blocked (XXXXXXXX).
