Thank you for visiting the Vermilyea (Vermilya, Vermilye, Vermilyea, Vermilyen, Vermilyer) Family Reunion Web Site. This site is maintained for the pleasure of the descendants of Johannes and Aeltje (Waldron) Vermelje. Johannes who was born in 1632 at Leyden, Holland, immigrated to America in 1662 on the ship “De Purmerland Kerch”, arriving at New Harlem and settling on Manhattan Island. On August 27, 1670 he married Aeltje Waldron, and from this couple the persons living today using the surname spellings of Vermilya, Vermilye, Vermilyea, Vermilyen and Vermilyer descend. It is probable that the surname spelling Vermillera should also be included in this list, however the connection has not yet been proven. An attempt is being made to document all known reunions held by these families to add to this site. Please check the links to the right to view information and pictures that are currently available.
